Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about how implly works — your recordings, plans, privacy and support.

Basics

What is implly?

implly is an app for learning to speak foreign languages through storytelling. You speak out loud, and AI turns your speech into text and gives you feedback and exercises — so you practise fluency without stress, at your own pace.

What does a single session look like?

You choose a language, level and mode, get a scenario, and then speak (a recording). Your speech is transcribed, and you receive a report, review material (flashcards) and — depending on your plan — pronunciation exercises.

Which languages can I practise?

English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Dutch and Polish. The app interface is available in Polish and English.

How do the modes differ?
  • Storytelling — you create and tell a story yourself.
  • Retell — you reproduce previously seen content from memory.
  • Reading — focused on pronunciation (you read a prepared text).
Does implly replace a teacher or a course?

No. It's speaking practice available anytime, anywhere — a great complement to lessons and courses, but not a replacement.

Voice recordings and privacy

Are my voice recordings stored?

No. The audio file is deleted immediately after it is processed (transcribed). We keep only the transcript and analysis results needed to generate reports and track progress.

Who can access what I say?

You do, within your account. The recording is processed by our AI providers solely to deliver the service (transcription, pronunciation assessment) and for no other purpose.

Is my voice used to identify me?

No. We do not use your voice to recognise or identify you — we do not process biometric data.

Where is my data processed?

Mainly in the European Union (e.g. the database in Ireland, speech processing in North Europe). Some providers may process data outside the EEA (e.g. in the USA) under Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or the Data Privacy Framework. Details in the Privacy Policy.

Account and sign-in

How do I create an account and sign in?

No password — you enter your email and we send a magic link and a one-time code. Click the link or enter the code and you're in.

I didn't receive the sign-in email — what should I do?

Check your spam folder, make sure the address is correct, and wait about a minute between attempts (for security, emails are sent no more often than every ~60 seconds).

How do I change the interface language?

Use the language switcher in the page header.

How do I delete my account?

You can do it yourself in your profile settings ("Your data (GDPR)" → "Delete account"). You can also write to contact@implly.com — we'll delete your account and its data.

Plans, pricing and payments

What's the difference between Trial, Lite and Max?
  • Trial — a free trial period to test the app.
  • Lite — core learning modes and flashcards, with a monthly session limit.
  • Max — full access with no session limit, pronunciation exercises and the full progress dashboard.

You'll find the current scope and prices in the Pricing section.

How long is the Trial and do I need a card?

The Trial is 7 days or up to 5 sessions (whichever comes first) — no card required.

Which currencies can I pay in and do prices include VAT?

You pay in Polish zloty (PLN) or euro (EUR). Prices are gross (VAT included). We issue invoices in accordance with applicable law.

How do I cancel my subscription? Do I lose access immediately?

You cancel in account settings / the payment portal. Cancelling stops further renewals, and access to paid features remains active until the end of the paid period. There are no cancellation penalties.

Can I get a refund / withdraw from the contract?

A subscription is a digital service that begins immediately with your explicit consent — so, under the law (and Terms §8), once performance has started the right of withdrawal expires and we do not refund the fee for the started period. That's exactly why the free Trial exists — so you can test the app before buying.

Does the subscription renew automatically?

Yes — it renews for the next period until you cancel.

Learning, pronunciation and AI

How does pronunciation assessment work?

We analyse pronunciation at the level of individual sounds and show what to improve. Pronunciation assessment is currently available for English (more languages planned).

Where do flashcards come from and how do reviews work?

You create flashcards from words and phrases you save. Reviews use spaced repetition (SRS), and some flashcards also let you practise pronunciation.

Can the AI make mistakes?

Yes — scores and reports are a learning aid, not a verdict. Treat them as guidance, not a final judgement.

What is the progress dashboard?

It's the "Summary" — it shows your skills profile, activity over time and earned badges, so you can easily track progress.

Technical requirements

What do I need to use implly?

A modern browser, a working microphone and an internet connection.

My microphone isn't working — what should I do?

Allow the app to access your microphone in the browser, check your system settings and permissions, then refresh the page.

Is there a mobile app?

The mobile app is in development. For now, use implly in your browser — it works on your phone too.

Data and security (GDPR)

What data do you collect and why?

Account data, learning-related data and technical data — to provide and improve the service. A full description of purposes and legal bases is in the Privacy Policy.

How do I export or delete my data?

Fastest yourself in your profile settings ("Your data (GDPR)"): "Download my data" (JSON export) and "Delete account". You can also write to contact@implly.com — we'll handle your rights (access, export, erasure).

How do I change my cookie consent?

Click "Cookie settings" in the footer — you can change or withdraw consent at any time.

Support and contact

How do I report a bug or problem?
